Morocco tours: frequently asked questions
How many days do you need for a Sahara desert tour from Marrakech?
Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes are about 550 km from Marrakech, so 3 days is the most comfortable option: you cross the High Atlas by the Tizi n’Tichka pass, visit Ait Ben Haddou, the Dades Valley and the Todra Gorge, then ride camels to a desert camp. A 2-day trip to the Zagora dunes is a shorter alternative.
Can I start a Morocco tour in Tangier?
Yes. Our Tangier tours travel south through Chefchaouen, Fes, Meknes and the Sahara to Marrakech in 5, 7, 9 or 10 days, which suits travellers arriving by ferry from Spain or at Tangier Ibn Battouta airport.
How far is Chefchaouen from Tangier?
Chefchaouen is about 115 km from Tangier, roughly 2 hours by road, so it is an easy first stop on a tour heading to Fes and the desert.
What is the best time to visit Morocco?
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the best seasons for touring and for the desert. Summer is very hot in the Sahara and in inland cities, while winter nights in the desert and the Atlas mountains can be cold.
Can the itinerary be customised?
Yes. Send us your dates, the number of travellers and the places you want to visit, and we will adapt the route, the number of days and the type of accommodation to your plans.
